Mail Call!

December 14, 2007 |

Today was yet another of those days where we really did not do anything special. But there was one highlight of the day, when the parcel containing the Yule presents and cards from the family arrived. They where sent from Norway only ten days ago.

Nan came running in with the goodies in her arms, with that big smile on her face, and proceeded right for the sofa, clearly intending to rip them open like a 4 year old. So I had to snatch them from her grip, and inform her to wait for Yule to arrive.

Anyway, we had to tear up the covering paper, to rescue some chocolate that was almost liquid in the heat. And we read the Yule cards. The one from my grandmother, had me with a big old lump in my throat. The chocolate is now in the fridge, still wrapped in Yule paper and the rest of the loot is hidden away.

Nan meticulously cut out all the stamps, since they where with the picture of His Majesty, King Harald VII of Norway. Cant have pictures of kings floating about, can we?

Evening time I set up the webcam for my new computer. And had a video chat with my folks, niece and nephew. And that was nice too.

The next ordeal was to check on little Mao the Mutt and his battle wounds from yesterday. He seems to be doing okay so far, with no sign of infection. And he is just as playful and inquisitive as before. With the exception that he is now  growling and barking every time a dog wanders by on the road. He even got in trouble with Nan for digging up her flowers outside.

Else the new computer is working fine. And despite all I have read about how much the new Vista OS is a piece of excrement, I have had no problems loading software and installing drivers for my hardware so far. And Gaming is a breeze. I never knew “Call of Duty” looked so good.

That’s it

New computers are always a wonder the first one or two days - until you install all the 25 or so programs that are to be loaded at startup :D

All christmas packages have been shipped today - so we can finally sit back and relax. Tomorrow we are heading for Hamar to pick a great christmas tree right from the forests.
