Going to Korat

November 11, 2007 |

Trundled out of bed this morning and made breakfast for Tum the Mutt. He is getting much stronger now, and is quite playful. 3 days of nothing but food and sleep has perked him up quite satisfactory. He was quite weak when we took him in as his mom did not have enough milk for the litter of 5.

After breakfast we spread the rice out on the road again, only to have to scramble to cover it all up as it started to rain a little bit. But now the sun is out so we just finished spreading it all out yet again.

In the afternoon we are heading for Korat. I have to visit Immigration and have my passport stamped. And Korat is the most convenient place. We’ll spend the night, and do some shopping at The Mall, and Tesco Lotus, and I’ll gorge myself on junk food. I need a big juicy, fat cheeseburger!

So we are taking the bus this afternoon for the 2 hour ride down there. This means the before mentioned motosai ride down to Buriram is cancelled, much to my despair, as I had quite looked forward to that. Those little two wheelers are fun to drive. We could always drive them to Korat, but that involves driving on the motorway, and I don’t fancy that on those small bikes.

The Mutt will stay home and be cared for by mom-in-law and the kids. And we’ll be back sometime early tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile the electrician has disappeared again. He was supposed to finish the job yesterday. He came in the morning, dropped off some cables, and a couple of wall mounted fans, muttered that he had forgotten something and vanished. Well, it is the weekend, but I hope he shows up tomorrow.

The good thing is he seems to be quite capable and experienced. And from what I can see he has been doing a good job on what he has completed so far. I.e mounting switches and wall connectors, plus the cabling in the kitchen.

Finally Nan is really in “cold” season mode, and has started knitting scarves for everyone. And she is now sleeping in  one of my T-shirts, wearing wool socks, cocooned in a duvet. This all means that the temperature is like a very hot summer day at home, and it’s quite comfortable up here in Isaan, with a nice breeze most of the day.

Well. That’s it!

Hi, finally back from a conference in Barcelona. Nice weather with 20C daytime and 10-15C at night - so it’s nice and warm there also. Back home in Norway it’s currently minus 5 but no snow.

Don’t forget to visit Yammo. And there is a great Swedish place to eat in Korat called Chez Andy’s, GREAT STEAK.
