Smoked Chicken Anyone?

November 6, 2007 |

Well, we managed to wake up today as well. But since it was a tad chilly, Nan refused to get out from under her duvet, so I had to torture her a bit by tickling her until she gave up on staying in bed. A small revenge for all the mornings she has relentlessly chased me out of bed.

After a quick breakfast of eggs and bacon, we finished the kitchen. It’s all painted now. Then we motored in to Putthaisong and got our-self a kitchen table and 4 chairs.

What we have left to to now is the electric stuff. And lo and behold, the electrician finally showed up today and walked around a bit, spoke a lot of Thai with Nan, and asked the usual “Where is the farang from and how rich is he” questions.

He promised to come back the day after tomorrow and fix everything. Well, seeing is believing!

Meanwhile Nan is busy exploring cooking in the new oven. She tried her hand at cooking some chicken legs in there today, and toady’s lesson was that when you cook in an oven, you can’t just stick the bits of food on the “grill” thingy, you have to put something underneath it so that fat etc don’t drip down on the super hot bottom of the oven.

I got wind of this by the tone of her:

“Ooooooeeeee! Why have to mut smoke in kitchen?!”.

Naturally this was all my fault. Even though:

A.) I was not aware that she was cooking anything

B.) Had no clue she was going to try something like that

But the chicken legs tasted delicious though.

Thats’ it!
