Slow Days
October 30, 2007 |
Yesterday was just super lazy. I was going to finish painting outside, but we ran out of paint. And we did not feel like going anywhere to purchase more right then.
So I just parked myself in front of the computer, while Nan dumped herself on the sofa to watch TV and promptly fell asleep.
The only think worth mentioning is that we ordered Sat TV from UBC Friday night. They called yesterday to confirm, and again today claiming they will come and install the satellite dish and decoder on Friday. So then we will have about 71 channels.
For me it’s news and movies in English. It’s going to be good to find out what is going on in the world outside again. Nan is looking forward to watch cartoons, more Thai soaps and the Discovery channel, that she took a liking to while she was with me in Sri Lanka.
There are some sports channels too. They come with the package, but this dude is going to flip straight trough them. Watching sport on TV for me is like watching paint dry.
Anyway, we’ll have 71 channels with nothing on I guess.
The night temperatures here are way down. Last night it was actually too cold to use the fan while we where sleeping. But in the evening it’s too warm not to have it on. So I am looking for a timer to switch it off automatically some time during the night.
Else I am working on a new website project. I am going to collect all the info about Isaan I can find out there. Websites, tourist information, accommodation, car rental, bars and night life, shopping, tourist attractions, local culture etc. The URL is already up and running, but all you get for now is a logo. But the address is http://www.isaanfolk.com/
So now you can follow what I am up to when not working on the hut.
That’s it!

Can you please tell us how much you are paying for the satalitte and is it just a once off fee or are there monthly charges.
Also will you be getting a channel from Australia on it called australia network?
Cheers
Hi meMock, they have all kinds of different packages, from “free” to very expensive. They have an excellent website in both Thai and English with a list of all the channels they currently offer. You can find it here:

We went for the Gold Package so we are getting the installation for free and now in october- the Disney Channel…yuppee!
No Australian TV channels I am afraid…
Monthly fee for the Gold package, 1500 baht.
Some funny stuff, one of the better blogs.
If you want a kewl idea for a website, do a website in Thai/English for Issan women and Englis speaking Farangs.
I make a living creating websites and web based applications for the Banking and real-estate sectors yet I have been lost trying to find a website that could help both me and my Thai fiance. I am an Aussie living in Europe (London for now) she is from Nong Khai. I regularly wish I could throw my laptop and phone out the window, especialy whilst on the morning rain to work, with stupid issues we struggle to overcome.
I can only hope someone has the time!!!
cheers dude
