Thailand Fishing Forum
October 5, 2007 |
The Thailand fishing forum achived 7 members, and 31 posts since it was started in october 207 until today, 24th of february. So due to lack of interest (no posts after 31st of october) I have closed it down. The member list have been deleted.
Best Regards
Rune
I love to hunt and fish. And since I can’t do any hunting here in Thailand, I’ll concentrate on my fishing. My problem however is that I know next to nothing about fishing in Thailand.
I grew up fishing cod and haddock in the fjords of Norway, and later developed a passion for trout fishing. Else up there in the northern part of the country we have Europe’s best salmon river, and charr is also abundant in the lakes and rivers.
But here in Thailand I am totally green. I don’t even know the English, let alone the Thai names for most of the fish. And I am more or less stumped on what lures they may take.
So I had a brainfart last night and started this forum on Active Boards:
If you love to fish, and don’t now where to go or like me how to go about it in Thailand, or you are an expert who like to share your vast and impressive knowledge with the great unwashed, here is you chance to help create an online community of like-minded folk.
See you by the river,
Tight lines!
P.S Changed the host for the board as the original host was agonizingly slow to load from my GPRS connection. It can now be found at: http://thaifish.freeforums.org/

Hey Rune I am like you and as green as too for fishing here in Thailand.
We would have to look at the predatory fish and what they actually eat and then have lures that are similar to their eating habits.
I am going to join the forum and hope it takes off.
I got your SMS as Noot just got home from the village about 9.30pm. I left her there and rode Ben’s motorcycle back home and forgot my phone and worse wallet but luckily I have some cash stashed away.
I wasn’t sure what time you country folk hit the hay up there so I will call you tomorrow mate.

Hey Jason, please do join the forum
Yesterday we crashed around 9 in the evening. Thats seem to be the usual time for us, as Nan needs her fill of soaps before she turns in.
Hope you get your wallet back!
Hi,
Nice to find some fishermen exploring Thailand’s fishing opportunties. Evene though I run a commercial operation, I too also am still learning about the vast potential Thailand has for sport fishing in its mass of Rivers, Ponds Reservoirs and lakes, hope we get to share some ideas soon!
Oops!
Completely messed up that posting…must be an early morning thing! LOL
Hope we catch up soon
Hey Jules, even you commercial types are welcome to that fishing forum. I think I have already linked to your website from there. Thanks for writing in.
Else not much activity there, and not much to read, so if anyone would like to contribute, averyone who likes fishing is more than welcome.
It’s the only way to get the board active and becoming a recourse for sports fishing in Thailand
Yes Im interested in knowing about river fishing in Korat. I was a commercial fisjerman in Aberdeen Scotland, but have moved to Thailand months ago to teach English. My passion is fly fishing for trout, but any kind of river fishing will do here.
I will be relocating to Korat in May to teach English and would like to live near the river/s and mountains. Any suggestions where to go.
Thanks

Well, some people signed on, said hello and that was it. It would seem the interest was not that great. I have not even been in there for weeks, and simply forgot to take it down…which I will do right now actually…sorry for the waste of time.
