Geoff and Amy Visits

September 30, 2007 |

Yesterday started with us going to Putthaisong to do some grocery shopping as we expected Geoff and Amy around noon. So we hopped on the Honda and sped off to town.

The first order of the day was for me to get a haircut. Which I had, followed by the worst possible shaving experience I have ever had. I wanted to rip the blade out of the barbers hand and finish myself. But since that would probably embarrass Nan, I just sat there and let him finish his torture plans.

Then we did some grocery shopping and got a 4 meter length of PVC pipe for the Hong Nam and drove home. To find that our guests where already there. But Nan’s mom had taken care of business and given them something to drink.

There was a bit of a chaos situation with kids running about, mingling with construction workers and a couple of the village dogs. Not exactly how I wanted to welcome them. But after some initial confusion I managed to press a Beer Chang into Geoffs hand, before giving them the grand tour of the hut.

They also brought along a beautiful wooden deck chair as a house warming present. I have been eying those for a while. So that was a very welcome present. Unfortunately we managed to break it. But that is easily fixed so no problem.

We then fed them and our two ladies actually started talking. Me and Geoff retreated outside and started trading war stories.

But the girls, being Thai was soon hungry again. So we motored into Putthaisong, showed them what was to see there. That is, main street and the market. Amy took pity on some live catfish at the market, and purchased some to be released in the lake.

Then we where just strolling around a bit, before going to a Thai buffet restaurant just outside town for some food. The meal was OK, and after that it was simply home to enjoy a few beers. And by now the girls where chatting away at warp speed, casting glances at us and giggling. So they seemed to get along quite well.  Something I must say us farang where quite pleased with.

As they tend to up here in the sticks, the night ended early. And around 10 in the evening it was lights off.

This morning we had a quick breakfast, and said good bye as they sped off to Si Sa Ket. So Geoff and Amy, hope we’ll see you again soon, and it was great to finally meet you!

That’s it!
