Two Envelopes
September 27, 2007 |
We got the mail today. It had two envelopes. One was for me and contained our legalized translation of the marriage application. So I guess next stop is the amphur, sign the big book and get our marriage certificate.
The other envelope held a surprise. It contained Nan’s wallet. The one that was stolen at the Northeast Bus station in Bangkok. It still contained her ID card, ATM card, motorcycle license and insurance card. But the 4000 baht was missing.
So thank you whoever you are that took the bother with returning it.
Else there is nothing new to report today, as the crew working on the hong nam took the day off. The foremans daugther is coming home from Si Sa Ket, so he was driving up there today. And that meant that the other two culprits also vanished somewhere.
So we took the opportunity to motorcycle into to town and stock up on some vegetables, and buy the shower and light fixtures for the hong nam.
At the same tame we bought an extra king size matress for guests, an extra fan, and Nan could not let a 200 baht shoe shelve go.
Then it was home where we declared today to be “Couch Potato Day”, and I went berserk demolishing orcs in “Battle for Middle Earth” on the computer, while Nan catched up on a couple of soaps.
We ended the day by pigging out on barbecued chicken and sticky rice, for me swallowed down with a beer chang.
Yup, life in Isaan is not bad at all!
That’s it!

Wow sounds really tuff mate. I am currently marking my way through 150 odd final exams that are 4 or more pages long.
The good thing is that at the end of the day it is relaxing in the park with my friends and then some really good Thai takeaway food and reading some friend’s blogs.
I am amazed that the Thai postal system found you. I had a parcel sent from Australia a long time ago with some documents I needed pretty quickly and guess what, they went missing.
A good 18 months on they still haven’t been found or returned to the sender and must be in a dead mail office somewhere in a country who knows where.
Good to see your enjoying Isaan lifestyle.
I think the trick is to have the adress written in Thai. I have plans to have some adress stickers made in Thai and English to send to my folks. So when they need to forward mail to me they can just stick that on the envelopes.
Else yeah, i enjoy it. And I am getting fairly good at finding something to occupy myself with.
Sabai, Sabai Yep ya gotta love it. Man that was kewl that someone mailed the wallet back, she still should change her account though.
PS Im a FAR CRY and Battle Field kinda guy myself.
