Driving the Honda Click
September 25, 2007 |
I purchased the Honda Click just prior to our 1 month stay in Sri Lanka to finalize my job over there. So I did not have much chance to drive it around.
But now it’s being used daily, and so far I must say I am happy we got it. The Honda is simply easy to drive. And as a newbie that’s fairly important.
Driving a motorcycle up here in Isaan country is actually quite nice. The roads are excellent with hardly any traffic, bar the last stretch into Putthaisong which is fairly potholed. The roads may not pose much of a challenge though, with hardly any fun curves that more hardened motorcycle riders love. But if I continue trough the village, that road have all the 90 degree turns and twists you could ever want for.
The speed of the Honda Click is fair enough for me. I can easily cruise at 80-90 km/h and that’s with my teerak on the back. I did try and see how fast it would go, and I got around 105 before it was time to slow down. But that stretch from around 95 to 100 was slow going. Anyway, plenty of speed for me, and certainly more than enough to kill me. Usually I stay around 80 as that seems to be within my comfort zone.
It has glitched up on me once though. But that was my own fault. I park it inside at night, as according to Nan there are a few kids around here that likes to um…borrow a thing or two without necessarily bother with seeking the owners permission.
And since it’s parked inside, I tend to leave the key in the ignition. To leave it set to the “on” position will drain the battery as the instrument lights will be on. And with a drained battery, the electric starter won’t work. It does however come with a kick start. It’s positioned quite far back on the bike, and you have to hoist it up on it’s biped support to use it.
Now here is a thing I did not think about when buying it. Nan has her own Honda Wave. But of course mine is newer, more shiny and she looks very good on it, I have to admit that. And she loves to drive the Click too. So when she wanted to go to Putthaisong for some shopping this Sunday, And I wanted to go fishing. And we both wanted the Click, the result was a non speaking wife for a few hours.
So if you have more money than me…get two of them ![]()
