Papermill Day Two and Pickpocketed

September 22, 2007 |

We woke up early again to be at the embassy at nine. We were only going to pick up the processed paperwork. Basically my wedding application with a stamp saying that the embassy had witnessed me signing it.

But at the embassy we where last in line. Not to bad as we got ourselves cue number 7. So I visioned strolling out of there in no time. But faith would it different. As the gentleman who was first in line had his heart set on making things difficult for the cutie behind the glass.

First he demanded, despite his excellent English to speak with someone Norwegian, as this was his right as a citizen of the kingdom, and this was Norwegian soil…blah blah. You get the type.

So we had to wait two hours to get that paper.

Next we went back to the hotel, checked out and then went to the Department of Consular Affairs in Lak Si to get the wedding application translated and the translation legalised. There was a translation service across the road, that did an excellent job of it for 300 baht. They also had the form necessary to have it legalized.

Next it was across the road and hand over the papers. As they said it would be 3 hours to wait we opted for having them send the legalized papers to us. So it was 400 baht + 50 baht in postage, and they had Nan fill out the adress on the envelope.

Now it was finally time to get our bums out of Bangkok. So we went to the Bus terminal. Only to discover that the next bus stopping in Putthaisong would leave in 3 hours.

Well, we did not have breakfast, nor lunch yet. So we ate something, and Nan went to “pee-pee”. She came back looking upset. It turned out somebody had lifted her wallet containing her ATM card, ID card, motorcycle licence and 4000 baht from her purse.

Bloody cities!

That’s it!
