The Fly
September 2, 2007 |
So once more we taxied to the airport. And this time Nan had her own ticket. We checked in without a problem. They did ask for her visa to La-la land, but that is one of the few countries where Thai’s do not need one. So no problem there.
We then passed trough Emigration. I sent Nan to the Thai line, and placed myself in the Foreign Passport line. Only to be waved over by Nan, who needed help filling out her emigration card, which strangely for a Thai in Thailand, had to be filled out in English. The officer was kind enough to process both of us, and then we where free to roam the halls of
Suvarnabhumi Airport
.
She has never been into shopping, and the prices in there shocked her to silence. We still had an hour until we had to go to the gate, so we just found a place to sit, and had a soda. This was the first time I had ever left Thailand and being flight side, feeling happy. She was with me and everything was right in the world.
We finally boarded “The fly” as Nan calls the airplanes. And flew to La-la land, landing 3 hours later. Immigration here was a breeze. The immigration officer asked if she was my girlfriend, and I informed him she was my wife. He leafed trough her passport once more and stamped her in.
A couple of hours later I locked us into my apartment here in the La-la Town. 20 minutes after that we were at a party, with all my colleagues and friends. Quite a start for her. But we only staid long enough to get some food, then retired and slept trough the night.
That’s it!

Im curious, was this Nan’s first time flying, and if so how did she like it?
No, she had been on a flight to Phuket some years ago. Her only remark was that it was definately not like taking the mini-bus.
