Up And Running

July 26, 2007 |

My domain was down a few days. Well, it actually do help to pay bills on time. But now everything should be good to go for a year or so. So everyone who missed my spelling errors and boring stories about the hut, we will now be back to our regular schedule.

Nothing much really happened in the days the blog has been down. Nan has finished cleaning the hut after the refurbishing, and claims that she has been lazy for a couple of days.  This means that she has only been cleaning her moms house, and all the laundry for everyone in the family everyday, been at a wedding and a funeral, cooked for everyone in the family, driven Heurn to and from his computer class every day, and made “something” (she refuse to say what) as a present for my dad on his upcoming 60th birthday.

So what should a do with my slacker of a wife?

The “big rain” is still not coming to her village. And the rice harvest is seriously in danger. This problem seem to be Isaan wide, and I really hope they get it soon. Nan is really worried. And it may mean that even more people will have to leave for the cities in search of work.

In Nan’s neighbourhood in the village, only her moms and the neighbours house have people living in them permanently. She showed me six or seven houses where entire families have simply left, because living in the village was no longer viable for them. An entire generation is simply gone. And you will be hard pressed to find anyone between the ages of twenty and 30 who still stay in the village full time.

Anyway, it’s now only 10 days until I will see her again. She will meet me at the airport in Bangkok, and then we will stay in the Bangkok area overnight, and drive up-country the next morning, with a short stop in Korat for some shopping.

Well that’s it for now…good to be back :-)
