Hut Update

July 19, 2007 |

Okay, one more on The Hut. The inside work is now complete. The ceiling is in place, the stucco cement is on the walls, the tiles are laid, and everything is painted, and she has installed new doors.   Nan sounds pretty pleased with the result though. But I still have no idea what colors she used.

Today she is starting the outside paint job, provided it does not rain.  She recons she’ll spend a week tinkering with that. As there is no hurry. But she is dead set on having everything ready for when I come home.

Yesterday she remembered something that has not been on my mind either. We don’t have anywhere to cook. I have some ideas. And Nan made a valid point. She does not want an inside kitchen because of the cooking smells. And it also draws bugs and cockroaches inside.

So for now I will fuddle up a barbecue, and we’ll buy a gas cooker, that should see us trough the 2 weeks I’ll spend there in August.  In September Well either see if we’ll put in an inside kitchen. Cant be that hard to install an extractor fan above the stove. And make some work surfaces for preparing food. Alternatively we’ll have a cooking shed added outside. With a concrete and tiled floor, and some proper work surfaces and a cleaning area, it should be okay enough.

The main thing, is to make a place to cook our grub that is easy to keep clean, and won’t explode.

Else, Heurn the 10 year old is attending a computer course on recommendation from his teacher. And he can’t wait for me to show up with my laptop computer, so I guess my days of having my favourite toy all for myself are numbered. He’s a bright little kid, and is doing well in school. So with a little encouragement I think that one is going places.

That’s it for now.
