A Kiss or a Baht

July 16, 2007 |

As I called Nan this morning, she was at the hut. That was self evident from the banging noises I heard. I got a bit curious as she announced yesterday that all the work was finished and she only had to paint it.

Well it turned out that “somebody” had suggested that when it rained, it would rain on the side door, and the wood would rot. I have no idea about building for the tropics, but it sounds plausible. Anyway she is having them build a roof over the door.

I guess we will discover an endless stream of little things like that which needs to be done.

About the colors she has chosen, I have now got confirmation that it’s not green. She told me her mother is back from a 3 week visit to her brother in Chon Buri. And the first thing Mae asked was why she did not paint it green.

The color issue has become quite a game. We have made a bet about it. If I can get her to tell me what colors she is using, I will give her one baht. If she can avoid letting it slip, she will give me a kiss. Strange rules, but it’s Nan who worked it out, so and thereby the logic is unquestionable.

“So what color is it?”

“I am not know, teeraaak!” *giggles*

“You sure you don’t know, remember you will lose one baht!”

“I am not want one baht, want kiss!” *giggle session again*

All in all she was quite up-beat today. She had not told Mae about refurbishing the hut, but when she saw it, she apparently liked what was being done. Except that it should be painted green in her opinion. So a lot of giggles and laughs as she made her daily report on goings on at the hut, and the village in general.
