The Wall
July 4, 2007 |
Well, it’s the walls actually. Nan says they have started applying Stucco cement on them, and have completed two of the walls and it looks good. She sounded quite pleased, and told me she only had to yak-yak the first day, so all is going well at the hut.
And just to prove what a good hearted and smart lady she is, she is having the roof of the bath house, and the main entrance door made fit for me. I banged my head at both places when looking at the place and she is now having a taller door opening and she is raising the roof of bath house a bit as well. What do you know. A tailor made house, just for me.
Else my fever is gone, and my nose has dried up. But now the coughing has started. I did my level best to convince Nan that I was more or less okay. But she refused to believe me. I guess it must be becosue my voice is completely gone, and I sound like a certain mafia Godfather.
Meanwhile I recived the translations of the documents I need from her as documentation for the papers I need to get from Norway so we can formally tie the knot at the amphur. The document I am after is called a Certificate of Non-impediment to Marriage. So I’ll get that package sent off with a colleague who is heading home on Holiday. Then its just to wait and let the bureaucrats sort it out.
The paperwork has to be delivered to the peoples registrar in my hometown, who then sends it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for approval, then I will get the much sought after paper from them. Hopefully this will happen in time for us to get this done when I go back to Thailand in August. If not, it will just have to wait until September before we get all the paperwork done.
I am obsessing a bit on this as I want to get it all right, and I am gathering all sorts of imaginable documentation with the right stamps and translations. As i don’t want to spend a second longer in Bangkok than I have to. It’s a dreadful place, and I can’t imagine why anyone would want to stay there of their own free will. So when I go to the embassy I want it all to be there, and ready. Same when we go to the Thai authorities for their bit.
Okay, that’s it for now

Yes the low doorways claim many a victim and I am not tall at 174 cms but I have hit my head at different peoples places here and there.
Sounds like Nan has all under control not having to Yak Yak which Thai girls do very well..
And for Bangkok I am with you and don’t know how anyone can stay sane in the traffic jams pollution and everything else going on there.
For a few days on holiday for some shopping and that’s it. In that time I am ready to go crazy and am longing for home in the country.
Don’t you like all the paperwork stuff sounds like a lot of fun for you.. Hope it all goes smoothly.

Well, I hate paperwork. One of the most stupid bits is that the peoples registrar is asking for my certificate of birth. Guess who issues that paper….yup, the peoples registar. So why do I have to supply them with a copy?
Another thing is that they want my tax appers, to prove income. The Peoples registar is just an extra function of the tax office. So they could get that by two mouseclicks….but nope. I have to fed-ex a legalised copy of a paper they sent me in the first place back to them….across half the globe… AAAAARGH!!!
Burocracy….gotta luve it. I guess America isnt the only country waisting tax payer dollers,LOL
I dont have any worries about doors and such, Im 5′4″. Thats one of the reasons I luv Thai wimmin, even I feel tall with em :o)
