Goings On

Nan is getting busy with the hut. She has found a crew to do the stucco cement, and the tiles. So today she will be off purchasing tiles and cement.

Else she is busy replanting some of the rice paddies, as she planted too early and there has been little rain. She works on the farm from early morning until around 9 or 10, when it gets to hot. Then it’s home, where she cleans the house, before preparing lunch for herself and Mae.

In the early afternoon she goes to the market, and then she cleans some clothes, to make sure the boys have clean uniforms for next day at school. Then it’s cooking dinner for the boys and Mae, and after that ironing clothes while getting up to date on the latest Thai soaps on TV. Finally she reads a bit of English, while making sure the boys get their home work done.

Oh and she does not merely clean the floors. That’s her exercise program. With the music on full blast she dances around the room with her broom, while singing along full tilt. I get exhausted just by watching her. Things have to be sanuk, and with Nan everything is just that.

Her oldest son is also busy these days. His teacher recomended that he take on some computer classes. So he does that for two hours of the day after school.

Else there is nothing much to report.
