Super Soaked
April 26, 2007 |
We were far behind enemy lines. Countless skirmishes had been fought to get here. But our target was now within range. And today we would finally retake our old fortress that had been under siege for days now. I was carefully studying the sentries guarding the perimeter, while the rest of the patrol was busy reloading and checking our weapons to prepare for our final assault.
No signal was needed. As a well oiled machine we went to work. Nan was covering me with her gun while I hurled bombs into the center of the enemy position. The enemy was not totally annihilated though, but we had one more surprise up our sleeve.
The charge was almost to easy. Nan furiously working her pump action Super Soaker 2000, me loaded with a bucket of ice water. One splash cleared the way and we ran trough their center and into the lobby of our hotel.
We had been out all day to “play songkran”, and were soaked trough and covered with white goo from top to bottom. Nan was visibly shivering with cold. So we quickly got the key to our room, and headed for a warm shower.
We ordered food from room service, loaded a film into the DVD player, and spent the evening dozing on the bed. Worn out from the drive down from Isan followed by days of water warfare. But now the madness was finally coming to an end, and we looked forward to a few dry days until it was time for me to go to the airport, and for Nan to return home to the village.
