Waiting is Torture
April 4, 2007 |
If there is one thing that is for certain, it is that the last week before an upcoming trip to Thailand is hell. I can get nothing done. And I spend 100% of the time dreaming about my upcoming trip, and I am completely useless at work. It does not get better when my boss want to know if I can postpone my trip for a week.
Luckily I got out of that jam when my assistant, entirely on his own (it was just a tiny little bit of encouragement from my side), told my boss that he was perfectly capable of taking care of any tasks that may show up in my absence. I quickly pointed out that I would be on call all the time, and that my hotel has internet connection in all rooms, that he decided to let me go.
The next thing that happened was that I read the newspaper. Very lucky indeed, as it made me aware that the airliner I am holding tickets with, have ceased all flights to this neck of the woods for security concerns after an incident that happened at the airport a week ago. A call to the travel agent sorted that out, but only after torturing me for an entire day by making me wait until the afternoon before they could present me with a solution that would actually get me out of here.
Meanwhile Nan asked me yesterday how many seasons there are where I am. When I answered the plain truth, which is same as in Thailand. Hot and humid or just bloody hot, she started giggling uncontrollably. I naturally enquired into what had triggered this outburst of humour.
- I foget, you not in Norway
- Aha, and that is funny?
- No not funny, but I make something for you, but now I think you not like.
- He he, No worries, I will like everything you make for me
- Really?
- Yes of course, so what did you make?
- *giggles* I make for keep neck warm, and hat too *giggles uncontrollably*
- You have knitted a scarf and a hat for me?
- Yes *loses it completely*
So my dear teerak is worried I might get cold when I arrive, bless her. It will only be about 35 degrees celcius. But it may be useful if we go to the cinema when I am there. Anyway, I will try to make sure I post a picture of meself wearing this very latest from Nans House of Fashion when I get back.
4 days to go. What next?
