An Invitation

March 15, 2007 |

Having just picked up my ticket to Thailand to go and meet up with Nan again, I called her and told her that now I have my ticket. She was indeed a happy puppy, and the joy in her voice was something I can live on for quite a while.

We chatted on about my upcoming return. I want to see more of Thailand. And we have talked a little bit about it, but she have always been in “up-to you” mode about it. I have been trying to coax her out of that, to find out if there is any places she may want to see. But with no result.

Until now. Telling her I have my ticket in hand, and will “100% sure” come and see her again, seem to have released her from her protective shell a bit. We talked a little bit about different possibilities. And when I managed to convince her that driving a car in Thailand was no problem, she invited me home.

-We can see my home too?
-Yes why not, I’ll be happy to!
-You can? Too much hot, no have air (condition).
-No problem, can. I promise you I will not die
-*giggles* Maybe can sleep in toilet, have cold.
-Um…I don’t think that will be necessary, teerak *chuckles*
-*giggles* I can to sleep in toilet also. Have cool water *howling with laughter*
-That’s a better idea!
-*struggling to control herself* Me joking, ting tong farang!
-Hmm, I think you are more ting tong than me.

So that’s it then. I guess it will be a trip to the general area of Buri Ram. Her village is according to her, only
20 minutes from town.

I have added Prasat Hin Phanom Rung to my must-see list. Any other attractions worth googling in the area is going to be appreciated! Throw them in the comment field bellow, and I promise pictures when I return!

Else I have no idea. We are starting from Pattaya, and will simply go north, stopping in Buri Ram for a couple of days and then continue wherever the nose leads us. Nan is a trooper, so I think this will be alright. But again, any tips for places to go and play tourist in will be more than welcome!

Else I am looking forward to experience my first Songkhran. No problem there, I like being wet, and it’s the hot season anyway. I have a water tight thingy for my camera too. Nan has promised me she will indeed do her level best to keep me cool during this trip… “No problem teerak, have plenty ice water for when you come! *followed by another giggling session”.

Well, teerak…I have my own plans ;-)

Songkran is great, you’ll love it. Where are you based now?

I’ve come to resent the phrase “Up to you”. It’s such a horrible chain of words.

    I am in South Asia.

Yeah I hate that phrase myself. With Nan I hope I can get her to stop it, as she find out who I actually am.
